Welcome to my E-Portfolio!

7. practice working collaboratively and collegially as well as independently. 8. develop positive and supportive connections with students and colleagues, building professional learning networks- #4

I have combined these 2 competencies because they fall under a similar grouping for me at this time. With my time both at Belmont and learning at UVic, I have learned the power of collaboration. I have been able to work with other colleagues to create lessons plans that we team-teach and weave in cross-curricular competencies. I have been able to share and gain resources with others to build my own resources as well as learn from others with much more experience than me.

As an example, I had received resources of Megan Evans’ that I was able to use in a cross-curricular lesson that I taught to my peers. I was able to use the resources from her package, and adapt them to fit the needs of the class I was teaching.

Another example is through the conversation of grading and the proficiency scale I was able to gain a resource from Alex Jones, and Charlotte Haley and have the resource of the proficiency scale they use in their classroom to try out in my own!

Through my time in classes, I have been able to develop some good connections with students, as well as I could while rotating to different classes. Students have talked to me in the halls in passing, and have asked where I am and when I am going to be in their classes again. Through these interactions, I know that the connections I have tried to build with students are effective, genuine, and present in my teaching/ learning.
