LIIT- Week 7

This week we are going to look at Low-Intensity Interval Training

For this information, I will be referencing this website!

What is LIIT?

-Interval training

-Low intensity

-Heart Rate training (works on 60-70% of maximum heart rate)

What is the difference between HIIT and LIIT?

The main difference is the time and intensity. HIIT is generally about 20-30 minutes at a very high intensity. LIIT on the other hand is generally about 40-60 minutes at a low more gentle intensity.

What are the benefits of LIIT?

-Not strenuous

-Easier on your body

-Burns fat

-Increases blood circulation

-Can increase cognition in older adults

What does a LIIT workout look like?

Use any form of low-intensity exercises and alternate between the exercises. Spend a minute or two doing the exercise (in HR zone of 2-3) and then rest (in HR zone 1) for a minute or 2, and repeate.

See example below from the website:

  • 10 squats
  • Rest for 90 seconds
  • 10 push-ups
  • Rest for 90 seconds
  • 30-second plank
  • Rest for 90 seconds
  • 10 sit-ups
  • Rest for 90 seconds
