This week I am going to talk about the F.I.T.T Principal:
The photo above from Surrey Schools shows some examples using the F.I.T.T Principal depending on the type of exercises you want to do or what your goals are!
What is the F.I.T.T Principal?
The F.I.T.T Principal is a fitness prescription participants can use to understand how long and hard to exercise to meet certain goals.
Break Down:
F(requency): How often you should exercise, measured in days per week.
I(ntensity): How hard your exercise should be, often measured as light, moderate, and vigorous activity
T(ime): How long your exercise should be depending on the type of exercise you are doing
T(ype): The kind of exercise you do depending on your goals.
Who can use the F.I.T.T Principal:
Anyone can really use the F.I.T.T Principal to work towards their fitness goals. It is a general program for the average person, all of the recommendations might not work for every person depending on their goals. Teachers are also encouraged to teach their students about the F.I.T.T Principal in upper-year PHE courses in the new curriculum.
How I use the F.I.T.T Principal:
I personally use the F.I.T.T Principal to help me schedule my workouts for the week. I usually mix Cardiovascular Endurance, and Muscular Strength into my workouts for the week leaving 1-2 days off for rest. My goal is to try to add Flexibility into my schedule and to not skip or move around any workouts this week. When I change my workouts they tend to not get done, or not get done as well because I am not in the right mindset.
